English Curriculum
A textbook entitled Life, which draws on National Geographic content, has been adopted. Fascinated by the interesting themes in the textbook and the pedagogy of Collaborative Inquiry, students can actively engage in a wide variety of activities during English lessons. We also organize immersive English activities such as English drama to create an authentic English learning environment for our students. The collaboration between the three subjects English, science and mathematics enhances the development of cross-curricular activities and cross-discipline curriculum design. This interdisciplinary approach, complemented by AI vocabulary building tools, significantly enhances students’ learning effectiveness.
English Reading
Students choose e-books according to their interests and abilities so as to enhance their English reading and listening skills. Interclass and individual reading competitions are organised to create a rich English reading atmosphere. The school library has also purchased Kindle e-book readers bundled with popular e-books. Students can enjoy the fun of reading at home. Activities and competitions are organized to widen students’ reading scope. English Reading Circles have been formed to promote English reading. These are successful measures to widen students’ horizons and arouse their interests in reading English books.
Science & Mathematics
Across all grade levels, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Science are taught in English. The curricula for these subjects are closely integrated with the English language curriculum to expand students’ exposure to the language. This approach strengthens their academic foundation by allowing them to enhance their language proficiency while simultaneously acquiring scientific knowledge.
STEAM Education
Our junior secondary Computer Studies curriculum fully integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education elements. The course introduces cutting-edge technology training including artificial intelligence, 3D printing technology, Micro:bit, smart robotics, and app programming. Through cross-disciplinary projects such as “water throttle devices” and “smart switches,” students seamlessly combine theory with practice. Our STEAM curriculum emphasizes not only knowledge and skills acquisition but also cultivates students’ interdisciplinary thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. This innovative teaching approach inspires students to serve the society through technology, allowing their creative potential to flourish while nurturing innovative talents with humanitarian concerns for the future.
Religious Studies
A school-based curriculum was introduced so that students can get to know the truth. The teenage sex education course entitled No Apologies provided by Religious Education Resource Centre has been adopted in junior forms to cultivate students to respect marriage and to cherish their lives.
